Buying a Car

Whether you're buying a car new or second hand, there are plenty of things to look out for. We're primarily going to deal with buying a second hand car, it's unlikely a new car will have a lot of problems and are usually covered under warranty.

There are number of key areas that you should be checking on a second hand car, it's worth baring in mind that each model will have particular weak point but the following tips should help you sniff out any potential problems.

Making the Call

When going to see a car you should always ring the seller to ensure they're going to be around and that the car is still available. There's nothing more frustrating that driving for an hour to see a car only to find it was sold a day before.

As private sales are not governed under the same rules as trade sales, unscrupulous traders will pose as private individuals to avoid their responsibilities. A good question to ask any private seller is : "Is the car still available for sale?" If they ask you which one, there's a good chance they are a trader posing as private seller.

Can you afford to insure it?

There are a lot of people who go to look at a car without considering the additional costs involved with running a better vehicle. Insuring a new car is usually the biggest expenditure of buying a car after the car itself.

Make sure you've got yourself a car insruance quote before you go to look at any car.
