The whole point of car accident insurance is to cover you in the event of an accident, we'd like to offer you a few tips on the steps you should take after you've had a collision.
First of all stay calm, there's no point getting out of your car and ranting at the other driver(s), it won't achieve anything and could potentially be deemed as threatening behaviour. It's also a good idea to check for injuries, if someone requires an ambulance ensure that you call for one right away, what seems like a minor injury could be worse than it seems.
One of the biggest mistakes that you can make is to admit liability for an accident, there may be mitigating circumstances that were beyond your control. Perhaps the other driver was drunk or their car was unsuitable to be on the road. Whatever you do, NEVER sign anything admitting liability, no matter how much someone pressures you. If you feel threatened call the police.
If there were any witnesses make sure that you gather their names and contact details, they may have seen something that could help prove your case. Impartial witnesses can help a lot with a claim where two drivers are in dispute.
