If you have a camera phone or camera on you, it would be a good idea to take photos before the vehicles are moved, these may be helpful to prove a drivers case. If you are suspicious the other driver is not giving you the correct details, take a picture of them in case you need to provide evidence to the police.
Whatever you do, don't panic and drive off. If you leave the scene of an accident without leaving your details, you can be prosecuted and potentially lose your driving license.
Once you get home, you will need to call your insurance company with all the details, of the accident. They will probably ask you to fill out an accident report form which will contain information such as date, time, your account of the accident and the other drivers details. Always be 100% truthful, lying could damage your claim.
The last point we'd like to stress is about whiplash compensation, many people think it is acceptable to make a false claim for whiplash injuries. Not only is this illegal, it also hurts the cases of genuine whiplash sufferers. Making a false is a felony that could land you with a fine or even a custodial sentence.
