There's nothing more annoying than driving along in the winter and finding your washers are out of water. During the winter months we'd advise you check your washer level at least once a fortnight, you can use plain tap water in an emergency but we'd advise you to use proper screen wash.
Not only does it clean more effectively, it won't freeze as water will on the colder nights of the year.
Check your coolant level at least once a month to be sure you're not running low. You can seriously damage your engine if your coolant bottle is empty, with bills running into the thousands, do you really want to take the chance.
This is a very important part of your car, it stops metal rubbing against metal and causing damage to the engine itself. Simply remove the dip stick, wipe off the excess oil and re-insert it. Remove it again and ensure the oil level is between the markers. Never overfill it or you could cause serious damage to the engine.
It's also advisable that you go to halfords or another specific car shop. Buying from petrol forecourts can cost you twice as much for the sake of a 5 minute drive.
By following a few of these simple steps you could save yourself hundreds of pounds every year on maintenance of your car.
