Speeding Car Insurance

Some readers may be thinking that we don't agree with the idea of speeding convictions, but they would be wrong. We 100% agree that around schools and town/city centres there needs to be some kind of measure in place to reduce speeding, but are all the cameras on the roads really necessary?

On a typical drive to a town centre, you could pick up 12 points if you were to trigger each camera on your way there and back, that's enough points to get you a ban. Is that really fair if you're unaware that your speedo is faulty?

The simple fact is that speed cameras are not the ultimate solution because they can only patrol a 20 metre stretch of road. More traffic cops on the roads would be a much better solution for a number of reasons:

1) They'll always be on the move so you'll never know where they are.
2) They can use their discretion. If there's a good excuse(i.e. family emergency) they can let you go on your way.
3) They can catch people who slow down for cameras and then speed up again.

The simple fact is that because there are so many speed cameras on the road, the average road user doesn't believe they're there for the public's safety any more.
